09-05-15 - Qualifying important in Pau

From a new street circuit in Morocco to a classic street circuit in France. This weekend the FIA WTCC comes to race in Pau. SEAT driver Rickard Rydell is third in the championship and knows that qualifying will be more important than normal, as it is very difficult to overtake on this track.

The last race weekend in Marrakech was a disaster for Rickard Rydell as he missed out on points after a crash in race one. As a result he lost ground in the drivers’ championship but is still third in the standings coming to Pau this weekend. Last year he finished third in race two.
”It’s even more difficult to overtake on this circuit than it was in Marrakech. Qualifying will be very important as you normally finish in the same position as you started”, said Rickard Rydell.
”Compared to the previous circuits this year this will probably suit BMW better, but SEAT and Chevrolet will be competetive as well. Like every other street circuit there is no room for mistakes.”
In the manufacturers’ championship SEAT has opened a lead of 29 points over BMW. In the drivers’ standings reigning champion Yvan Muller has a lead of 12 points over Gabriele Tarquini with Rydell in third, 13 points behind the Frenchman.
