10-01-14 - SEAT quits WTCC

After an uncertain autumn and winter SEAT announced on Wednesday that they withdraw their factory team from the WTCC.
”It’s sad for both SEAT Sport and the WTCC”, said Rickard Rydell.

Double World Champions SEAT withdraw their factory team from the WTCC. Rickard Rydell, who has raced for the team since 2004, laments the decision.
”It’s sad for both SEAT Sport, with its fantastic and loyal team members, and the WTCC who has already lost three factory BMWs for 2010”, said Rickard Rydell.
However, SEAT Sport will not be closed down. The Spanish manufacturer continues with various one-make series with the SEAT Leon Supercopa. The World Championship winning cars will still race in the WTCC, although in privateer teams with support from SEAT Sport but without Rickard Rydell.
